Specialty Tour: Spring Cleaning, 1700s Style
March 14 at 12:00 PM – Spring Cleaning, 1700s Style – Hosted by Kim
Step back in time at the Balthis House and experience spring cleaning as it was done in the 1700s. Learn how early Shenandoah Valley families refreshed their homes after a long winter—whitewashing walls, beating rugs, airing linens, and restoring the hearth. This immersive tour offers a glimpse into the rhythms of daily life and seasonal traditions in colonial Virginia.
Purchase your tickets online or at our Ivy Lodge during open hours (10 a.m.–4 p.m., Wednesday through Saturday); please note that tickets must be secured at least 10 minutes prior to the start of the tour.
This ticket also includes day-of admission to our museums and grounds (open from 10am-4pm). Tours are subject to change. Stairs and outdoor walking may be required.
