SUMMARY:Season's Creepings with the WHS
DESCRIPTION:Step into the shadows of Front Royal’s past this holiday season as the Warren Heritage Society invites you to a chillingly merry adventure: Season’s Creepings: A Holiday Ghost Tour.\n\nDr. Harold Grimm is back—our resident teller of eerie tales—and this season he’s sharing his favorite local ghost stories with a chilling holiday twist. From haunted winter happenings to long-forgotten yuletide lore\, Dr. Grimm blends history and the supernatural into stories that linger long after the tour ends.\nWhile the rest of the town glows with twinkling lights and cheerful carols\, our historic streets whisper tales that are anything but silent. Discover eerie legends\, strange wintertime encounters\, and true accounts of spirits that have chilled Warren County winters for generations.\n\nJoin us for a guided nighttime walk where the warmth of the season meets the cool thrill of the unknown. Expect folklore\, history\, holiday hauntings—and a few surprises—from the man who knows our ghostly past better than anyone.\n\nBundle up\, bring a friend\, and prepare to meet the spirits of Christmas… the ones you won’t find in any storybook.\nFAQ: \nIs this tour kid-friendly? The tour mentions violence and murder and has approximately one mile of walking – we leave it to the discretion of the parents to decide. Please no children under 7 years of age. \nHow much walking is required?  The tour has approximately a mile of walking through downtown Front Royal – expect to be on your feet for at least an hour.  Wear comfy shoes\, be prepared for uneven sidewalks (this is an old town after all)\, and dress for the weather. \nWhat about weather issues? Tours are rain or shine. If torrential rain\, frozen sidewalks\, or thunderstorms that could put tour guests in danger are forecasted\, you will be contacted VIA EMAIL that the tour has been canceled. You may have the option to reschedule. \nDo I need to bring a flashlight? We will provide you a SPOOOOKY lantern for the tour.  It just seems right.

SUMMARY:Gutbusters: The Development of Civil War Ambulances
DESCRIPTION:Prior to the Civil War\, the U.S. Army did not use ambulances\, nor were such vehicles used in civilian life. Drawing from European examples\, however\, both the Union and Confederate military made extensive use of ambulances during the conflict. And at war’s end\, ambulances immediately became a fixture in day-to-day American life.\n\nThis talk will examine how ambulances were developed and used during the Civil War\, and also take a look at the many ambulance models\, both good and bad\, that were developed between 1861-1865.\n\nThe talk will be led By Dana Shoaf\, Director of Interpretation at the National Museum of Civil War Medicine!\nThis Third Thursday will be hosted at 114 E Main St\, at Stone Branch Arts Center.
